Nursing Assistant Program

Here at Assist 1 Medical Center, we aim to maintain and enhance the quality of education for certified nursing assistants to protect the quality of patient/client care. Our mission is to graduate competent, compassionate, and caring nursing assistants who strive for excellence in their delivery of care to meet the healthcare needs of the community and contribute to the healthcare profession.

Nursing assistant classes are a great choice for individuals looking to enter the field of nursing and gain valuable healthcare experience in a relatively fast and cost-effective way. The knowledge students attain from the nursing assistant program in Waterford, Michigan, will prepare them to become certified nursing assistants who are responsible for the following:

  • Helping patients with activities of daily living
  • Assisting with personal hygiene care
  • Maintaining a safe, clean environment
  • Communicating vital health information about a patient’s condition to other medical staff who supervise their work

Students enrolled in our nursing assistant training program will learn introductory concepts of nursing care, including areas such as:

  • Personal care procedures
  • Safety and infection control
  • Vital signs
  • Catheter care

They will be taught through lectures, labs, and hands-on clinical training in healthcare settings.

Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of common elements required for certification by the state of Michigan. This will be measured by student achievement of a passing grade on instructor-developed and administered final examinations.

This is a 2-week training course that will consist of lectures, labs, and hands-on clinicals in healthcare environments. We require all students to have:

  • A Highschool Diploma or GED
  • Background check
  • TB Testing
  • Proof of COVID vaccination and/or negative COVID test result within 48 hours
